Mother Ruth Coley Rourk

She was oh, so special...

Mother Ruth Rourk - National Leading Lady and First Lady at the Greater Adams Street COGBF in Rochester, New York, received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost and accepted Jesus as Lord and Savior in 1951 at the age of 12.

Later her family relocated to Rochester, New York where she joined the Church of God by Faith on Troup St. Her mother, Missionary Leola Coley was a major influence in her life and spiritual growth along with Elder E. J. Lewis, Elder Eugene Kemp, Elder D.L. Smith, and many others.

Mother Rourk delivered many spiritual instructions for living a Holy Christian life and taught the younger women how to care for themselves, their husbands and children. She was a lady of great wisdom, grace and hospitality.

Mother Rourk has worked and supported her husband for nearly fifty years in the ministry. In addition to her role as First Lady of Greater Adams St. COGBF, she actively served as one of the National Leading Ladies, and she is the former Northwestern New York District First Lady. Mother Rourk has served in many capacities: Assistant District Missionary President, Sunday school teacher, usher/choir member, District Missionary Secretary. She founded: Ladies in fellowship together {LIFT}, organized the missionary choir and founded the NWNY District Minster’s wife’s auxiliary, The Angles of Faith, Adams St. Hospitality and Greeter ministry. She is also noted for her coordination of the up keeps of God’s house, her phenomenal card ministry, assisting churches collecting money for their fundraisers and her fantastic Mac and cheese and special care packages.

On Friday, September 8, 2017, while surrounded by her family, Mother Rourk peacefully passed away. Mother Rourk was the devoted wife of the COGBF Executive Secretary, Pastor David C. Rourk for 59 years; and mother of Cheryl Brown, Sonya Miller, Karen Fletcher and Minister D. Christopher Rourk. She is also a wonderful Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Mother in law and Sister.
