  Many social media users have also slammed the movie's final scene, which saw main character Arthur Fleck (portrayed by Joaquin)
  brutally stabbed to death by a fellow inmate.
  
  This meant that the man that audiences had been watching over the
  course of the two movies was never the Joker at all, but in fact, the infamous villain from the Batman series was really just the random inmate who killed Arthur
  in the last moments of the film.

  The first film grossed over $1 billion and
  at the time was the highest-grossing R-rated film of all time.
  It received 11 Oscar nominations - two of which it won. 
  
  The sequel, however, has already been much less successful.
  It had a lackluster $40 million debut at the box office in its first weekend, and has a low rating of 33 percent
  and 31 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
  
  'Undoing much of the goodwill from its predecessor, the sequel
  convolutes what could have been a unique character study into a
  bloated encore that goes out with a whimper,' reads one review. 
  
  Another critic wrote, 'This movie is a disjointed mess and a waste of time.
  It's just tired, not particularly interesting, but it
